"Never Gonna Fall in Dear Again" is a song co-written and recorded past American pop stone artist Eric Carmen. It was released equally the second single from Carmen'south self-titled debut solo album, the vocal peaked at number 11 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart in June 1976, remaining in the Peak xl for ten weeks.[1] The song reached number ane on the Billboard Easy Listening chart. In Canada, it was a number-one hit on both charts.[two] [3]

The melody of "Never Gonna Fall in Love Again" is based on the third movement (Adagio) from Symphony No. 2 by Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff.

On his 2d solo LP, Boats Confronting the Current, Carmen had a subsequent Top forty hitting entitled "She Did It", a happy answer to the loneliness and lovelessness described in this song and its every bit melancholy predecessor, "All By Myself".

Telly operation [edit]

Carmen performed "Never Gonna Fall in Love Again" and his prior hit, "All By Myself" on The Midnight Special television program on July 23, 1976 (season four, episode 37). The evidence was hosted by The Spinners.[4]

In his 2017 autobiography, Holden said recording it "was a take chances for me to have a hit". Holden promoted the song past performing the rail on Countdown, where he performed the track while handing out reddish carnations to the audience. • Tony Burrows covered the vocal in 1976 with the studio group Magic.
  • Castilian singer Miguel Bosé also covered it (in English language) in his debut LP Linda in 1977.
  • John Travolta covered the vocal in 1978.
  • Tommy Page covered the song on his 1991 anthology From the Heart.
